Mid-ish January Mindfulness Reminder

I got an email this morning that says today, the third Monday in January, is labelled the most depressing day of the year in the UK. While the email then went on to say that this may be a marketing myth to sell remaining Christmas stock (💁🏻‍♀️), they went on to describe the powerful perspective-change that mindfulness produces.

And what a timely reminder of this important practice, as we head into our year -

When we're mostly concerned with the past, thoughts can be full of regrets and beliefs of how much better things seemed then...

Whereas thoughts are focused on future, often bring anxiety about what lies ahead...

There's an understated beauty in just being where your feet are.

Being fully here.

After all, the present is the only moment that's actually happening. Right now.

If you're struggling with this (which is so common🤗), try using your senses!

What does the seat you're sitting on feel like? Hard / soft, warm / cool, texture... What sounds are around you? Is there a smell you haven't noticed?

It's all about experiencing what this current moment offers, and choosing the most helpful response- always, as you're able to.

If you're interested in exploring this further, have any questions, or found this practice difficult (or have difficulty feeling safe / settled in general), please reach out here. Being in your body and in the moment doesn't have to feel frighting or overwhelming. Promise.

With you and for you,

P.S. Don't forget to check out my online store of helpful downloadable resources. Some prices have been reduced🤩. You can find them here.
