Considerations on the last moments of 2024 ✨️

This liminal space between this year ending and a new one starting can bring up all sorts feelings.

Disappointment of how the year has turned out; contentment as we look back on what we've accomplished and internal change that's taken place; regrets about decisions we've made or opportunities not taken; excitement and hope for what a new year may bring, or trepidation for the same...

Or, more likely, a mix of all these and more.

If you're feeling the pressure of "new year, new me"... Pause. Go for a walk. Get curious. Reframe- Why this pressure? What emotion am I feeling? What experience or feeling needs to be processed?

After all, "the idea that you can 'leave the past in the past' doesn't work.

The past isn't a physical thing that you can abandon like a bad holiday gift. The past lives in our cells, organs, and tissues." - @brittfrank

Maybe we need to set more realistic goals or expectations- less focused on what we do and achieve and more about who we're becoming in the high and low moments of 2025.

If it feels helpful, we can absolutely use this time to reflect and recap. But gently, without harsh words and judgment 🤗.

And we can choose to let these last few moments of December be a reminder of how far we've come, to look back with gratitude and to get hopeful and excited for the new year. Always, as we're able to.

If any of this felt difficult, I'm available to process this with you. You can reach out to me here.
